Counting Down
It is now officially time
Time to count down
It is now T minus 5 days until (12)’s birthday party
So let’s examine where we stand on the party preparations, shall we?
The hubby and I have been running around like chickens with our heads cut off, trying to get all this shit done. The magnitude of this party has become unbelievable. We have 4 dozen balloons ordered and scheduled to be picked up about 2 hours before the party starts. We have tables and chairs ordered to be picked up the morning of the party. We have all the decorations purchased in the brightest colors imaginable. We ordered her “Happy Birthday” banner, purchased the bubble machine, bought some of the food, purchased buffet food warmers, and all of the supplies that I need to make her cake. We have converted our RV parking area to a dog run so that we can open our backyard up to the large group of rowdy people that will be here on party night. I have spent the last 4 days compiling 5 and a half hours worth of music of her choosing, so that I could put a playlist together for the night. We have done all the window shopping and have picked out a sound system, laser lighting and the strobe light that we need.
So you may wonder, what is there left to do? I asked myself that same damn question You know what I discovered? There is still a shit ton to do!
We have to put in the dog door and set up the 14 foot trampoline. Wednesday and Thursday will be spent cleaning. Thursday night we need to buy the rest of the food, the sound system, the laser lighting and the strobe. Friday I will be baking the cake (which will take all day) and get my nails done in the evening. I also need to make the beans. Friday night we will set up the lighting. Saturday we will get an early start moving furniture and going to pick up the tables and chairs that we rented. We also have to pick up the banner, the balloons and cook all the food.
I am not going to complain because I am thankful that I am able to throw this kind of a party for my daughter.
All I am going to say is that I am tired. I am so tired, that my tired is tired (if it wasn’t possible before, it is now).
I am counting down the minutes until my life will return to normal.
“Normal”, at least my normal, seems like such a distant memory that I’m not even sure what that is.
And so I figured that once this party was over that things would slowly return to what I consider to be “the norm” around my house.
That was until I got an email…….

I hope the email is nothing too horrible. And I hope that your daughter has an awesome party and a great time! Kudos to you for doing all that hard work for her.
I’m glad you are able to do it for her too.
That’s why I’m not complaining
I am just thankful that I am in a position health wise and financially to be able to do this for her.
12′s party is going to put mine to shame!
Oh no…the email is scaring me….
Tell me about it. I know what the email is and I’m scared.
Goodness! I just got worn out reading that!
Sounds like this party is going to be the shiznit! I wish I was there to party it up with (12)
You are always leaving us hanging! Darn you!
Wish you could be here too!
Wow, you are going out all out girl! That party sounds awesome. If I could drive to Vegas, I would so be there!
Start saving up the gas money for next year
I’m sure it’s going to be an awesome party! It’s really cool you guys are doing all this for 12.
Just don’t wear yourself out … you need enough energy to enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Its funny, but I was just thinking about that last night. I want to party too! By the time all of this is said and done, I’ll be lucky to have enough energy to chew my food.
I hate to ask but honey what are you going to wear :as I duck down from you throwing an object at me:
No ducking required!
(12) asked me the same thing. “OMG mom, you know what you should wear? How about those jeans and that top? We should give you a hot pink stripe in your hair!!”
ahem
Normal…… Does our house really have such a thing?
Nope, but thanks for asking!
Fates are smiling in your favor my dear lady. Keep an eye on the mail. >:)
Thanks for making her day Ian!
Stay excellent! ★
My daughter wants to go she said she’ll take a bus there because it sounds like lots of fun.
Sweet! Tell her that we’ll pick her up at the bus stop down town. No biggie!
Hell I wanna go! Is the party at your house?
You have way more energy than me!!! I could not do all that. In fact, I am seriously needing a nap. I will take one in your honor!
Someone has to. Thanks for lookin’ out
Good luck finishing all things for (12) soon to be (13)’s birthday! I know you can pull it off! I know you can do it and will give her the best birthday any girl could wish for!
I am also really curious to find out what sort of e-mail messed up the whole things getting back to normal thing.
I just want to her have a fun night with her friends and not have to worry about a thing
Ouch, Cliffhanger! Hope you get some energy. i would say hope life gets back to normalsoon but seeing how this blog ended…well my best hope is that you find some supernatural energy!
Supernatural energy would be AWESOME!
The party of the century!
Absolutely!

My sympathy. Wait a few years, When my daughter was 15 she insisted to see Eddie Izaard (our fave comic). He was playing in San Fransisco… a 5 hour drive. then I needed to rent rooms. Not just any rooms but at a place called The Phoenix were all the big rick stars stay.
God I miss the pinata days…
BTW the trip just about broke me. On her 16th birthday I re-wrapped her childhood bike. Sadly she was old enough to figure that one out. We settled on sushi at a local restaurant. With a coupon.
It’s going to be a great birthday party,…think the kids are going 2 love this! xx
