Fingers Crossed
Well it’s Thursday, and although I’m not sitting at home I thought I’d share some thoughts.
(13) couldn’t wait for today. I thought this to be rather strange. See, today is infusion day and it just couldn’t seem to get here quick enough for her. She actually mentioned a few times over the last couple of weeks that she was looking forward to her infusion and missed being at the chemo clinic. Hmmmm. Um, ok.
While I embraced these past few weeks as a much needed break from the medical community, she began to miss it. As weird as this may seem to some people it comforted me a bit. Infusions are something that is a life long necessary treatment for her. I have worked long and hard to make sure she is as comfortable as she possibly can be and that she has the best possible team of doctors for what she is needing treatment for. I’d like to think that my hard work has been successful. The clinic is like a second home where she feels comfortable and safe with a medical team that she adores and trusts.
And while my heart wrenches at the thought of my daughter transforming from the innocence of being afraid of needles to looking forward to injections and IV lines, I am comforted knowing that she has adapted and feels safe in an otherwise frightening and uncertain environment. I am grateful.
Today we are at the clinic for infusion. Fingers crossed all will go well. I will try to tweet updates.
Another thing I’d like to share while it’s on my mind is …….( wait for it )…….
Woo Hoooooooooo!!!!!
Isn’t it awesome?
What is it? Don’t you know? um…. me either! What I do know, is that it’s an award that was given to me by a new blogging friend Christine over at PullingItUpByTheBootStrap’s Blog. It has been a pleasure getting her insight into my crazy little world and I’m honored that she deemed me worthy of an award having just been virtually introduced (it may be the honeymoon period of this relationship but I’m just going with it). So if you don’t mind, I’d like to say “Thank you Christine” (this will make sense in a moment).
Now, there are apparently 5 rules to accepting this award, and they go a little something like this……..
1. Thank the fellow blogger who nominated you. √
See? See how I did that? BAM! One down.
2. List five blogs that has affected your writing in a positive manner, by virtue of comments, posts, inspirations etc.
So this is where it gets a little tricky. 5 blogs that have affected my writing in a positive manner? Hmmmmmmmm. I tend to mingle with blogs that bring out the “naughty” in me, as if I really needed any encouragement. Naughty can be good, so I guess we’re on!
♥ Marina Sleep’s Blog - It is no secret that she is my partner in crime. She gets me in ways that…. hey! that’s private! She makes me laugh, makes my cry (cuz I’m laughing), and makes me vomit (cuz I’m laughing and choked on my coffee or vodka). I’ve asked her to marry me on numerous occasions and although she always says yes, I manage to wake up in Vegas without her (insert sad face/ guilt trip here). I love her dearly and she inspires me to positively embrace my inner crazy. That counts, right? So go check her out.
♥ The Idiot Speaketh – Mark is a friend to all and an enemy of none (except that one crazy stalker guy, remember)! What I love about Mark is that you can never tell whether he is telling the truth in his crazy, twisted tales of life. While some may think his antics are far fetched, I am married to an Idiot myself and know that these tales are ENTIRELY possible. But by the time you are done reading his posts, you are often laughing too hard to figure it out. Mark has inspired me in many ways. He uses humor, in a similar way that I do, to overcome some of the hurdles that life has thrown our way. He is never too busy to help out a friend and uses his blog as a way to reach out to others in need. So go check him out, if you haven’t already, and tell him I sent you.
♥ Thoughts Appear - Thoughtsy has stolen the hearts of many cupcake eating, pop tart loving bloggers of the virtual world. She sucked me in, back in the day, with posts about Pete (may he rest in peace) the penguin. But it has been her “what movies teach us” posts that have kept me. She has positively influenced my writing by revealing the hold that Hollywood truly has on us. All of life’s lessons can be learned by watching a movie. This has led me to alter my zombie apocalypse plan and rethink my views on marriage. So go ahead and check her out, if you haven’t already. Subscribe to her blog and let the knowledge roll on in. You’re welcome!
♥ Experification – This little gem of a blogging friend has inspired me in another way. English is not his first language and yet he is able to beautifully express his thoughts, struggles and opinions everyday on his blog for us English speaking and reading bloggers. Why has this affected my writing? There are many times that I have sat and struggled to come up with the words that I’m trying to say. I’ve become frustrated to the point that I’ve walked away. However, there are times that while I’m sitting here frustrated, a new post from Experification has come into my inbox. If this friend of mine can find the words in a second language, than I can find the words in my first. And I have! So go check him out.
♥ Hacking Vegas - *while gun is pointed to my head* For all of my new followers or for those who just don’t know, this would be my husband. How does he positively influence my writing? Hmmmmmm, because he tells me he does? Everyone knows that bartenders hear it all. They are like having a second or third therapist, right? RIGHT? Mr T (what we like to call him) is my personal bartender and he inspires me to drink creatively. When I drink creatively, I write creatively. The End. Well, there’s also the great sex. I’m sure that counts for something too, right? No? Well, shit! Although he doesn’t get to post as often as he’d like to anymore, he enjoys sharing the stories of the crazy people that he encounters while working as a taxi driver here in Las Vegas. His stories are hilarious, so go check him out. You can look, but don’t touch. And be sure to let him know that I sent you so he doesn’t get a big ego and think he attracted readers on his own. We wouldn’t want none of that happening now. Capiche?
3. Leave comments on those blogs letting them know of the nominations √
Done. BAM!
4. Post the award in your blog. √
Done. Don’t believe me? Go ahead and check. Its at the very bottom. I’ll wait here.
I bet you feel stupid now, don’t ya?
5. Bask in the love of fellow bloggers and spread joy and inculcate good karma.
Ummmmm. Ok?!? What doesn this mean really? I’m not sure but the thought is making me itchy so I’ll just end it with this…..

The reason you wake up alone in Vegas is because Marina is now with me! OH SNAP!
Thoughtsy has totally taken the nutritional value out of yogurt. I believe she does take it to a new level though.
You’re husband is a riot! The life and times of a hacker in Vegas. It doesn’t get any better!
I will have to check out the other two blogs you’ve mentioned.
Congrats on your award! WELL DESERVED!
But Thypolar you are more then welcome to come… when Irene rolls over to sleep I need something to do!!!!
You deserve this award!!
You Rock!!
How fun to be given an award. I think it satisfies the child inside of us, wanting that blue ribbon or that trophy! I have only recently found your blog and started following, so I am new to your world. I will go look at the other blogs that you listed as well.
Have a fabulous and fun day!
Congratulations! And thank you!
I’m glad you altered the zombie apocalypse plan. I need you and your fam around when I travel across country in search of Twinkies.
Thanks so much for the kind words J! The family and I are really looking forward to meeting your family this summer! Have a great day!
Gratz. I have my 5 favorite blog’s and of course, this is one of them. What an awesome blog this is. My loved one is gonna have to start infusions, (treatments) again soon. She’s starting to feel sick again. Be strong for u and your daughter. I hated when “she” was doing them. Gratz again.
Why thank you kind ma’am!!!
I don’t know what to say!! I try???
Is this a German award??
Sounds German.
If it is, can I have my German beer please?
Please?
Thank you so much my friend. At this current point in life it means more to me than I could ever possible express.
Say hi to that brave little soldier of yours. She’s a hell of a fighter.

thypolar, congratulations on your award. The concluding lion photo is naughty but nice! You have my very best drumbeats for a victorious experience with your daughter at the clinic! So pleased you are enjoying your blogging experience. Glad you told us last nominee was your husband’s blog.
I will definitely cross my fingers for you and your family. I hope everything will be wonderful. I also want to congratulate you on being nominated for this wonderful award.
Capiche! Congrats, on the award. Love the photo.
I totally understand where your daughter is coming from. The people who administer chemo and treat you become a big part of your life, and like you said, they make her feel comfortable and she trusts them. That’s BIG. Don’t feel bad, all it means is that you’re taking her to the right place for treatment.
Congrats – and good luck!
Thank you!
Xoxo to the family of numeros
Miss you girl! Don’t be such a stranger
Interesting! Creativity has a home here! Wow! I must have been missing! But not anymore. I’ve been in my world alone, it’s good to know some other worlds are good too!
