First I thought I would let you all know that the My Vegas Team has posted a new episode on their blog. Make sure you go check it out!
It includes a personal interview of 13 and there’s a surprise! What’s the surprise?
For those of you who have already checked out the new episode….. did you know that was him being interviewed on the news?
Check it out ……. The 7 – 10 Split
So there is a back story behind how this News Spot for Channel 13 came to be.
It was a dark and stormy night…………… No really, it was! Hahahaha. Anyways, back when this fundraiser first started, Mr T contacted a news anchor from KTNV (Channel 13 here) that we tweet with and asked if there was any way possible that they could help out in spreading the word about the Foundation and their fundraising efforts. We were hoping for a small spot on their website or a brief mention in the community segment. Surprisingly, she emailed Mr T and said she was interested in doing a live segment and was wondering if 13 would be willing to make an appearance. How cool is that, right? She also asked if anyone from the Foundation would be willing to come on the news with her and discuss the technical parts of it all.
So that sent me on a mission and it wasn’t long before I had the Foundation on board with making an appearance. Mr T was the contact for Channel 13 and I was the contact for the Foundation and together we were the middle man (I need a drink). Anyways, this happened to be the Monday of the week we left to help my in-laws move. Mr T and I left with all the information in the hands of the right people, or so we thought, and focused our energy on packing and moving furniture. Little did we know that things were about to change.
Last Wednesday Mr T received a call from the PR guy from the Foundation. They were making the final preparations for the news segment. They decided not to use a patient, but rather would like to get a parent’s perspective on the Foundation. He asked Mr T if he would be willing to come on the News with 13′s Nurse.
Hold on… it goes from bad to worse in 3….2…..1……
“I’m not the guy for this. It would probably be better if Thypolar went on camera with Nurse Jenny so let me run and get her real quick.“
Mr T comes into the office and says that I am needed on the phone to discuss the fundraiser. Not suspecting that I had just been thrown to the wolves, I jump on the phone and eagerly tell him that I am willing to help out the Foundation any way possible. That’s when he drops the bomb.
I have to do what?!?!?!?!?
For those of you who don’t know me well enough or haven’t figured this out yet, I am afraid of the camera. Deathly afraid. Now although I don’t expect you all to know this (I mean why is some smokin’ hot chic who looks way too young to have a tribe of children afraid of a camera? Ahem ) , my husband is perfectly aware of this irrational fear of mine. What you all SHOULD know is that I am not a morning person. So when the gentleman explained that I needed to be at the News station by 6 am, I almost died. That must be why, at about this time, Mr T gathered his personal belongings and slowly started backing up towards the door.
That’s okay because I got my revenge when within 24 hours I reversed the play and had his name listed as the “parent contributor” for the news segment.
How did I manage that?
It really wasn’t that hard. I was already sick as it was. Has being a little sick ever stopped little ole me from doing something for my kids? Never! But I had a perfectly good, able bodied man who IS a morning person and isn’t afraid of the camera within my sights.
So, there was absolutely no way in the world I could make an appearance on the news if I’ve lost my voice, right?
And my voice? Well, it made its triumphant return as soon as the taping of the segment came to a close. Imagine that? It was a miracle!
So say what you will because I got the job done and that’s all that matters to me.
I saved him some grief if you really think about it. If it were me, he couldn’t handle all of my fame. We wouldn’t be able to walk around this town without the paparazzi. And how embarrassing would it be for him if we went out to dinner and women were dropping their thongs in my lap while men were sending drinks to my table? Because that would totally be the way I rocked my fame and he would just be a third wheel to all the alcohol.
So instead, I’ve saved him the grief and have settled for being married to a famous man instead. You can all ask him for his autograph. It’s ok.
What’s my benefit? Well now, that’s just none of your concern!
